2020 vs 2024
Mrs. Waite's Advisory Pictures!

I thought some of you may be interested to see these two pictures of my Advisory group. The first photo was taken on their first day of school as Freshmen! We were in the middle of touring the buildings, back when there were arrows dictating the flow of hallway traffic. Remember that? The connector was still under construction, so we were crossing in the back (east) parking lot, down the ramp outside the exit near the corner of the gym. You can see that we're socially distanced and only maskless for the photo op!

The second photo was taken yesterday, as they near the end of their Senior year! Time flies! Krist Waite

VT State House Visit

Cooper O'Connel, Sara McConnell, Leah Fitzgerald, and Jacoby Soter

(The Why)
Vermont is poised to meaningfully engage and empower youth in the Vermont Civic Health Index Project. A representative group of youth will attend a one-day conference/data analysis retreat where they will support the analysis of the Youth Survey and synthesize the data to be shared in the report. UP will plan and facilitate a one-day gathering at the State House for a group of up to 40 VT youth.

The purpose of the day: To review the Youth Survey data Identify areas of strength and opportunities for change Develop a youth-led synthesis of the data and quotes for the Civic Health Index report - this will include data, recommendations, and quotes Brainstorm ideas for sharing the report with other youth throughout the state.

College Planning Event June 5th

Rising juniors and seniors at BFA were invited to a college preparation event organized by the school counseling office. Representatives from the University of Vermont, the University of New Hampshire, St. Michael's College, Norwich University, and Vermont State University attended the event. They offered students the opportunity to meet individually and in small groups. Traditionally BFA has a strong relationship with area colleges and high acceptance rates.  We appreciate the support they give our students as they prepare for college and careers.

Instrumental Pops Concert June 5th

The Instrumental “POPS” Concert with this past Wednesday, June 5th. Students in Bands 1, 2, 3, String Ensemble and Jazz Band performed for a capacity crowd in the PAC.

Each year this concert caps off the vibrant BFA Music Instrumental Music program with movie music, pop tunes, and light classics. Highlights this year included a full orchestra performance of music from “The Lord of the Rings” and a combined Bands 2/3 performance of a recently re-discovered composition by Eric Osterling that was commissioned by now band director Eric Bushey’s predecessor Verne Colburn back in 1981.

Band 2 performed “Windridge” by Georgia, VT resident David A. Myers who is an internationally known composer of band music. Mr. Myers was in attendance at this performance.

The entire concert was live streamed and can be found at the NW Access YouTube channel.
