Spring Fling:


Bobwhite Comet Competition:
Exciting news! After 2 long years, the Bobwhite Comet Senior Scholarship Competition is back! Get ready for some of the most fun you'll have your senior year! Work with friends to write skits, perform for BFA, and win scholarship prizes. Come take part in one of BFA's oldest traditions. Sound exciting? Come find out more... First VERY IMPORTANT meeting: Wednesday, March 30th during advisory in room A210. Be there if you want to participate or learn more.



Standardized testing week:

SBAC/VSA Testing will occur on April 5th and 7th. Click HERE  for details about the testing week schedule and other important information.




Parent/Teacher conferences:

Parent/Teacher conferences will take place on April 13th and 14th from 3:30-7:30pm. There will be both in-person and virtual options. Pick-A-Time sign-up will open on April 6th.




Congratulations!

41st Annual Outstanding Teacher Day.
Congratulations to Larissa Hebert who was recognized on Wednesday, March 23rd at the 41st Annual UVM Outstanding Teacher's Day! Larissa was BFA's Teacher of the Year 2021.



She Kills Monsters:
Congratulations to the cast and crew for their performance of She Kills Monsters this past weekend at the Vermont Regional Drama Festival. Acting Awards went to Emily Parent, Pilot DesLauriers, and Bug Galuszka. An award for Original music went to Will Austin.





















Spring Instrumental Music Concert:
This year’s Spring Instrumental Music Concert was held on Thursday, 3/24 at 7 PM in the PAC. Will Austin, a junior pianist, started the evening at 6:45 for those interested in coming early.

Featured groups were the BFA Jazz Band, Bands 1,2,3, and String Ensemble. The String Ensemble joined both Bands 2 and 3 for several selections. 








Congratulations Jocelyn Chun - selected to play in 47th Lions Twin State Soccer Game:
Jocelyn Chun has been chosen to represent Vermont in the 47th Lions Twin State Soccer game on July 16th.

Classroom Work


Sports Editor of The Messenger, Ruthie Laroche, was a guest speaker last week in Mrs. Hebert’s journalism class.


Bridget Higdon, Editor of The Messenger, met with Mrs. Hebert’s journalism club this week.




Community Connection

Community Connection:

On Wednesday, March 30th, BFA and NCTC will be hosting a career connections presentation with Mylan Technologies. During the presentation representatives from the company will discuss job types within the company, typical responsibilities of the different job types, what makes a good job candidate/employee, what kind of opportunities are available for high school students, recent graduates, as well as individuals who have a college degree.

On Wednesday, March 23rd, BFA and NCTC hosted a career connections presentation with the Vermont National Guard. During the presentation, Sargent Andrew Knapp discussed service with the VT National Guard and how this service can enhance your CAREER and EDUCATIONAL prospects.

Pro Driver Training visited BFA/NCTC on Tuesday, March 22nd, outside of the Automotive program bay doors 8:15-9:15 with their truck to speak with students about getting a CDL and what jobs you can get with one. This is in preparation for the CDL prep course that will start next Monday, 3/28, through our adult education program.

National Business Honor Society Induction Ceremony:
Congratulations to: Maya Frost, Yuki Benjamin, Hannah Hisman, Ashley Seymour, Rachel Needleman, Liam Wood, and Brayden Baker



State Poetry Out Loud:
Elio Haag represented BFA at the state Poetry Out Loud competition this week at the Barre Opera House. Elio gave flawless performances and was one of the top 5 finalists in the state!

Comet Hockey Champions:
Rachel Needleman has published an article in The Mercury on Comet hockey's big win:


New Balance Indoor Track National Championships:
Congratulations to Ethan Mashtare and Loghan Hughes who raced at New Balance Indoor Track National Championships in New York City on March 10th.

Congratulations to Noah Earl on selection to the Dream Dozen!
Noah Earl was selected to the 2022 Vermont Dream Dozen for his outstanding performances this season.


One Act Play:
She Kills Monsters opened Thursday at BFA 7 pm!

Classroom Work

Physical Science - Distillation lab:


On Thursday, physical science distilled cherry Coke. The scent boils off first so you get a very strong smelling cherry Coke liquid to smell.

The Mercury editor Adelyne Collin passed out copies of the special print edition to local businesses.


Career Pathways:
Stacie Callan of the Stacie Callan Realty Group presented to a group of BFA and NCTC students in the Career Pathways Center. She spoke with our students about careers in the real estate and property management fields, being a self-employed entrepreneur, and steps students should take to pursue their career goals. We would like to thank Stacie for taking the time to inspire and educate students in this way!

Spring Fling:

SPRING SPORTS SIGN-UPS ARE NOW OPEN.  Go to the BFA Athletic website TODAY for registration information.  You will need proof of physical on file at school within the past two years to start practice on March 21st.  See Mr. Marlow if you have any questions.  https://sites.google.com/a/maplerun.org/athletics/




STANDARDIZED TESTING SCHEDULE



Testing will occur in advisory groups on April 5th and April 7th.

ALL 9th-grade students- Math and English SBAC
ALL 11th-grade students- Vermont Science Assessment
FYI: There is no PE testing this year

There will be two bus routes on those days. One will be the normal morning route which will pick up 11th and/or 9th-grade students and the second run will drop off  10th and 12th-grade students at school at 11:00.

Students must bring their FULLY CHARGED Chromebooks to school on testing days.



Testing Makeup Dates:


#1 April 13- Enrichment Period (Library) from 8:10-9:30 am or when finished!

#2 April 27 - Enrichment Period (Library) from 8:10-9:30 am if needed.
