Congratulations!!

Congratulations 2022 Division 1 Girls Hockey State Champions!
For the first time in our Comets 22 year history, the Comets finished their season with an undefeated record. Going a perfect 22-0, BFA (No. 1) took down the Spaulding Crimson Tide (No. 2) 3-2 in the state finals on Monday, March 7.

Snowboarding States at Jay Peak:
The BFA girls team finished 2nd in the SlopeStyle event! Kaydence Bocash made it to the girl's Rail Jam finals as well. BFA girls finished 4th in state overall.

For the SlopeStyle event in which the BFA girls finished 2nd:
Mia Montagne 7th place
Kaydence Bocash 9th place
(out of 21 riders)

In the Rail Jam event:
Kaydence Bocash finished in 9th
(out of 29 riders)

The BFA boys team unfortunately was down 3 riders, so we didn't have enough for a team score. The remaining boys competed on an individual level.

Congratulations to St. Albans Messenger's Athletes of the Week Thomas Demar and Jodie Gratton:

Thomas Demar, a senior at BFA St. Albans, and a member of the Bobwhites basketball team has been an integral part of the team’s success throughout the season.

Jodie Gratton tore up the 2021-22 season, accruing at least one point in every game. Gratton tied the Comets all-time points record for a single season with 49 and set the all-time assists record for a single season with 26. Both records have stood for 21 years.

Community Connection

Mercury News:
Cooper O'Connell, a staff writer for The Mercury, has been participating in VTDigger's Underground Workshop and was recently published within a collection of vignettes from Town Meeting Day.

Career Connection:
On Wednesday, March 9th BFA and NCTC hosted a career connections presentation with Real Estate Agent, Stacie Callan. During the presentation, Stacie and her colleague discussed being a self-employed entrepreneur, careers in the real estate and property management fields, and steps students should take to pursue their career goals.

Theatre Update

Working on One Act play set:
BFA Theatre Company Students prepare for the One Act Play.  She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen which they will perform for the public on March 17th at 7PM and again at the Vermont Regional Drama Festival being held at Hazen Union High School on March 19th.  The play is a dark comedy about two sisters trying to know each other through a fantastical romp in the mythical land of Dungeons and Dragons.  Lots of humor and heart! Come and support us as we return to the stage, unmasked! Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door using cash or check.
