Four Healthcare Scholarships Awarded to Local High School Seniors
Four Franklin County high school seniors were recently awarded scholarships towards their health-related degree programs from the Martin H. Wennar, MD Health Education Fund.

The $4,000.00 scholarships were presented at a fund-raising event held at the Greg Brown Lodge at the Hard’Ack Recreation facility. Heather Streeter welcomed attendees and Thomas Allerton, a PA with the NOTCH and a former scholarship recipient, was the guest speaker. Dr. Robert Zelazo presented the awards to the honorees.

The 2024 recipients of the scholarships are:

Alyssa Boudreau from BFA St. Albans, who will be in a pre-pharmacy program
Meagan Kuhn from BFA St. Albans, who will be studying nursing

Lillian Robtoy from Enosburg Falls High School, who will be studying nursing
Liam Tatro from BFA St. Albans, who will be studying nursing
Each year, the Martin H. Wennar Health Professions Scholarships are presented to graduating high school seniors entering collegiate studies in a healthcare field. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and community service.

Congratulations to these winners, and we look forward to hearing about their successful healthcare careers in the future.

Rotary Club of St. Albans
 and Flexible Pathways
Collaboration on May 21st

Liam Mahabir, BFA's Flexible Pathways Coordinator, and Rob Thayer NCTC's Work Based Learning Coordinator, presented to the St. Albans Rotary Club about the work of the BFA/NCTC Career Pathways Center. Seniors, Camryn Bushey and Colby Rainville, also shared their experience of participating in Work Based Learning Internships as high school seniors.  Established in Fall 2022, the Career Pathways Center creates a focal point in the community where both technical and traditional education students can access relevant career exploration and flexible pathway opportunities. The Career Pathways Center makes career advising, resume building, job shadows, internships, guest speakers, and worksite tours available to all BFA and NCTC students.

Live Canvas Event
with Artist Jon Young

On May 17th, Jon Young set up in the BFA Connector for a live canvas event. Students and staff enjoyed watching the project from start to finish as they walked through the Connector between class periods. The finished project is absolutely amazing.

Beats and Rhythm!

How fortunate to have Kyle Anger (Dj Kanga) and Zach Crawford (sound engineer & music producer) visit BFA.  Their expertise significantly impacted our students, who got a chance to check out and try out some of their equipment!

BFA-SASC Collaboration
Mrs. Palmer, brought a dozen BFA Drama Improvisation students to a special midday lesson at St Albans City School. A number of the BFA visitors were former City School students! The Improv Workshop began with a warmup activity followed by some improvised acting situations. Although the time for working together was short, the BFA drama group visit had the extra benefit of introducing our City School drama students to the BFA drama staff and students they will be joining once they graduate from City School. It was a great workshop experience for all!

Spring Sports

On Wednesday, May 22, the Comets lacrosse team recognized seniors Adi Hughes, Makenna Montgomery, Madyson Regimbal, Cadence Ovitt, Jillian Koval, Amber Poquette, Grace Ripley, Rae Alexander, and Bri Jarvis.

Details:   Here is a bulleted list of What to Expect at this year’s 94th Commencement for the Class of 2024 on Saturday, June 15th at 2 pm at the Collins Perley Sports Complex:

  • Graduation rehearsal is mandatory on Friday, June 14th, 12 - 2 pm. Seniors do not need to wear caps and gowns for rehearsal. Seniors will receive graduation tickets at the rehearsal. When they practice walking across the stage, they will be handed an envelope with their tickets.

  • On June 15th, seniors are to arrive at the Complex no later than 1 pm and promptly report to the rink to line up.

  • Please dress comfortably for graduation as it can be very warm regardless of if graduation is outdoors or indoors.  If graduation is outdoors, seniors will be walking on turf and sitting on the bleachers so ensure shoes are appropriate (i.e. high heels can get caught in the grass and on bleachers). Seniors should arrive with their caps and gowns on.

  • Please ride with your families to limit the number of vehicles for parking. Traffic in and around CPSC is congested. Carpooling is encouraged.

  • Once families and guests have parked, they will be directed to the graduation entrance. Please have your (4) tickets ready to present and you will keep your tickets with you. Seniors will each be given 4 tickets for reserved seating. Other family members/guests may sit in the open seating area. Families and/or guests will be ushered to the seating area(s).

  • If you, a family member, or guests have special accessibility requirements (wheelchair, hearing impaired, etc.), please contact me and I’ll assist you with the needs and will ensure that an usher assists you upon arrival at graduation.

  • At 2 pm, the seniors will walk in and march down the middle aisle and the commencement begins.

  • Whipple Photography will be at graduation.  Photographs will include the presentation of the diploma, followed by a portrait holding the diploma.  Images from graduation will be posted for graduates and families to view on the Monday morning after graduation.
