Powder Puff Game Totals:

The BFA vs MVU 2021 Powder Puff Game is wildly pleased to make public the total of this year's game........ $30,000.

As always every penny will be donated to our community between Camp Ta Kum Ta, the Jim Bashaw Cancer and Catastrophic Fund, and the two scholarships in Jim Bashaw's name (one) at each school.
Thank you so much to our community for letting these two schools be able to support where they live.

XC Running News:

Loghan Hughes became BFA's first-ever XC State Champion. Congratulations on an outstanding race for the Victory.

BFA Boys XC tied for 1st October 30th at the Vermont State XC Championships. They would end up 2nd on the tie breaker. They are only the third BFA boys team to ever place 2nd. A team in 1973 and then again in 1994. Congratulations on an outstanding season so far. Onto New England Championships in two weeks.

In case you are unaware, the BFA Cross Country team has had a record-breaking season. Loghan Hughes became BFA's first-ever State Champion, winning the Division 1 State Championship. The girl's team placed an impressive 6th place in Division 1 and 9th place in the entire state out of 29 complete teams. The boy's team tied for first place in Division 1 with St. Johnsbury and lost the State Championship on a tie breaker. They would place 3rd in the state out of 36 complete teams.

Both teams will be competing at Hard'ack this Saturday, November 6th in the Meet of Champions. A race that brings the best individuals and teams in Vermont from all divisions into one race. This race serves as a tune up race for next weekend's New England Championships which will be held at Thetford Academy in Thetford, VT. The girl's race at 1:00 with the boys racing at 2:30. Both teams would love to have your support. Come cheer on the best BFA has ever had run in the green and gold. The Hard'ack course is extremely spectator friendly, you can see 2/3 of the race from one vantage point.

The team would love to see the trails packed with cheering fans. We hope to see many of you on Saturday.

Club Rotary Interact helps host St. Albans City Halloween Spooky Saturday:

BFA Interact worked with Rotary and St. Albans City to host a Halloween Spooky Saturday in downtown St. Albans this past weekend. 19 students showed up to help guide thousands (yes thousands) of children and their families through a haunted city hall and also helped pass out candy and direct families through activities.

Working with youth to provide them with opportunities to meet people, practice employment skills and make meaningful connections are all goals of Rotary Interact.

November Winter Coat Drive:

BFA Rotary Interact is kicking off the November Coat Drive. Donation boxes can be found outside the main office, the complex, Hannaford, and the CO-OP. All coats will be sourced to CVOEO and redistributed to area agencies such as the food shelf, Laurie House, Tim's house, etc.
Please donate, if able.

Fall Music Evening 11/4/21:
It was a beautiful night of music with our first live audience in almost 2 years. The performances were first rate from start to finish and provided a great evening of coral and instrumental music. It was a full house and a very receptive and appreciative audience.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:

The 2022 Coolidge Scholarship is now live.

The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States.  Any high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2023 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (current high school seniors are not eligible to apply).  Winners may use the scholarship to pursue any academic major.

A complete description of the scholarship’s criteria is available here.

Alert:  the application requires that candidates read President Coolidge’s Autobiography and complete a few other reading assignments.  While the book is not overly long, we encourage students to begin the application early.  Candidates who begin the application at the last minute are unlikely to be successful.  The submission deadline is 5:00 PM eastern time, Wednesday, January 9, 2022.

Please note if you have any questions, we can be reached by email at coolidgescholars@coolidgefoundation.org or by phone at (202)827-4291.
