Community Involvement:

Plato's Closet, Ada's Closet -
Faculty Food Drive

BFA would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Cori Enos (for organizing), Laurie Plante (for connecting BFA to Plato's Closet), and Plato's Closet! Plato’s Closet’s generosity in donating gifts for 19 BFA students, supplies for Ada's Closet, and contributing a $2,500 donation is truly commendable. Acts of kindness like this exemplify the power of community support and collaboration, demonstrating how individuals and businesses can come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Plato's Closet's generous donation is indeed a shining example of how community organizations and schools work to support the growing essential needs of youth today.

The Faculty Food Drive was a tremendous success! We're en route to deliver another batch of food to the food shelf. Our collective efforts have made it possible to provide substantial food support to the food shelf as well as to many students facing food insecurity. Gratitude to everyone involved, and blessings to you and your families.

Members of the Athletic Council
visit UVM Children's Hospital
Students from the Athletic Council, along with their advisor Mary Brouillette, brought smiles to the faces of the young patients at the University of Vermont Children's Hospital. They dropped off hockey socks filled to the brim with toys and goodies. This thoughtful gesture was a result of their hard work and dedication to making a difference. The girls raised funds to purchase the toys, some of which were donated, and carefully selected items from the wish list compiled by the Child Life staff. It's heartwarming to see local students coming together to bring joy to our patients.

Fine Arts Department News:

Academy Arts Night

On December 19th, the BFA Fine Arts Department presented its third annual Academy Fine Arts Night. The evening kicked off in the connector with an art show put on by art educators Karen, Yandow, Gerald Stoner, and Dee Christie. Student’s artwork was on display as people entered the building, grabbed refreshments, and listened to the BFA string ensemble play a half-hour program of music they’ve worked on this semester.

After the opening reception, audience members had the option to attend events in the Performing Arts Center, the gym, or the connector. Drama presented an opening selection from Mamma Mia and all BFA music ensembles performed in the gym. A special treat this year was a combined jazz band from Saint Albans Town and City Schools directed by Nick Allen and Zachary Kelly, The directors from those two schools.

Highlights of the evening included a full orchestra production of classic Western movie themes, and the finale of the entire evening, which was a combined chorus from BFA, SATEC, and SACS, singing, the traditional Carol of the Bells and music from How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Semester 1 Assessment Week
January 8 - 12, 2024

Hello Students and Families,

This communication is to let you know that BFA will be having an Assessment Week.  This week is designed for students to take assessments which will demonstrate their learning from the semester.  As you can see in the schedule below,  students arrive at the normal time and are dismissed at 11:30 unless they need to attend Proficiency Recovery in the afternoon.  Proficiency Recovery is for students who are currently not passing the class with at least a 2 score.   Students who need to attend this time will be dismissed at 2:50.  Buses will be running at the 11:30 dismissal and the 2:50 dismissal. Teachers will be reaching out to students and families to notify if students are required to stay.   NCTC students have a slightly different schedule which is also indicated on the attachment.

If Seniors need Community Service hours, there are possible community service opportunities in the afternoon.

Please reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you.
